Why did you decide on the name tokidoki?
When I was in school, I wanted my own website and I was into Japanese art and culture. So I wanted a Japanese word and really liked the “tokidoki,” which means “sometimes” in Japanese.
Can talk about the new Sephora fall collection you’ve done, 24 Karat.
After launching a few very colourful tokidoki collections, I wanted to do something for the holiday, something special. I wanted a richer look, something different from the regular palette; something to do with the holiday, like celebration. When I think “celebration,” I think about gold and silver, from the fireworks to the bottle of champagne – all about sparkles. I’ve used that colour before on a skateboard, black and gold, so I started working around that for a shadow palette.
